To My Daughter on Her Birthday
Happy Birthday to my baby who is now a remarkable woman.
When you were born, I finally understood what people meant when they said their children were the most exquisite gift they had ever received. I understood that gift the moment I held you—the pure, overwhelming feeling of unconditional love.
It felt as if there was no place where love existed that you were not. It was constant. It had no conditions, no expectations, no room for guilt, shame, or appearance. It simply was—pure, unwavering love.
For a long time, I believed that was the ultimate gift. But what I’ve come to understand is that because I felt unconditional love from you, I learned to vibrationally match that same unconditional love for myself. And once I could love myself that way, I became able to receive the unconditional love of the universe and of my own soul. That is why I can say your love inspires me to be a better mom, grandmother, sister, and human.
This is the love you offer to everyone in your life—anyone willing to step in and experience it. You bring light into every room. That is the greatest gift anyone can give.
This past year has been one of courage for both of us. I finally understand what courage really means: the willingness to show up fully, even when the outcome is uncertain. Because I know I am unconditionally loved, I’ve been able to take risks that once felt too vulnerable. Today, I see that this is what bravery looks like—and I recognize this same bravery in you.
I feel seen, heard, believed in, and valued by you—the greatest gift a person can receive. I hope I give this to you in the same way you so effortlessly give it to me.
I wish you all the love, happiness, and joy a soul can hold. A life built on the kind of love you offer is a worthy and beautiful purpose.
And recently, I had the sweetest vision: a little one waiting to come into our lives, jumping up and down saying, “Ooh, ooh! I want her! I want her!”
Happy, Happy Birthday.
Love,
Mom
